Description

This top is inspired by the fibres of a lufa (gourd). Assembled using white linen from a thaan and brown brocade katran from a boutique, it features unique tassels inspired by the fruit and leaves of the plant, along with rich golden zari work mimicking the fibres. By using the technique of pleating, we gave a texture to the otherwise plain linen fabric. The golden zari thread was artistically done by hand.

  • Dryclean
  • Gentle hand wash at home. This garment is an occasional wear with golden zari details, hence extra care is needed.
  • Iron at medium temperature with caution as golden zari highlights has shreds of metal. It is recommended to iron by overlapping a cloth over the top.

At Ekatran, we take pride in upcycling leftovers from export houses, wholesalers, boutiques, and individuals to create our products. Our commitment to high quality is unwavering, ensuring each piece meets the highest standards. Our studio remnants are transformed into art by our founder, Tanaya Rao Raj, whose artistic approach brings to life these unique, one-of-a-kind designs.

Additionally, we donate pillows, crafted from these remnants, and filled with unusable surplus (or Katran), to those in need across India. This dedication ensures that we operate as a zero-waste studio. Upcycling presents its own set of production challenges, but we strive to innovate and improve daily.

Moreover, Ekatran is proud to ensure minimal environmental impact by upcycling these fabrics that would otherwise end up in landfill. We believe in providing ethical wages and maintaining proper working conditions, aligning our practices with our values of sustainability and social responsibility.
